Reflexology education is my passion; and my 450 Hour Reflexology-Plus Certification Course is a result of wanting to share the rewards of profound satisfaction that comes from working in this area of Holistic Health Care.
Reflexology education is going into the next phase of establishing new standards. In my wish to be part of this process I have qualified as an
For our Reflexology-Plus Program, I will teach Reflexology Theory; practical instruction for Hand & Foot Reflexology; Pathology – Diseases & Disorders; the Meridian Connection to Reflexology using the excellent Acupressure study materials by Lilian Tibshraeny-Morton Mary Ellen Dunford will be assisting me with the practical reflexology sessions. She will also teach Anatomy and Physiology, including Bio-Physics & Bio Chemistry. Mary Ellen is a Reflexologist, Massage Therapist, Occupational Therapist & Educator, and Program Coordinator for Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center. Mary Ellen taught Anatomy and Physiology to Occupational Therapy students for 15 years at Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids. Mary Ellen & I will teach our class on the Energy Connection to Holistic Health Care. We are both Healing Touch Practitioners & Reiki Masters. This will be a hands-on class exploring the subtle ways that Energy vibrations promote the body's own natural ability to balance good health. Cindy Minehart L.M.T., C.R.R., is a Reflexologist, Massage Therapist & a very experienced business lady and will present the Business Tips class. Reflexology-Plus graduates are required to take 16 CEU's every two years, as required by the A.B.M.P. the Association of Bodywork & Massage Professionals. Reflexology-Plus is approved by A.B.M.P. If graduates do not maintain 16 CEU's every two years, then we will not be able to refer new clients to them. For CEU's we require that all graduates take a practical refresher class for Reflexology; this is a minimum of eight hours, one day. The other eight hours can come from any course the graduate has taken that will improve their knowledge & skills of bodywork e.g. Anatomy & Physiology, Massage, Reiki, Healing Touch, Music Therapy; or any topic that would be useful for their business, e.g. office management, accounts, computer skills. Or the graduate can take two days of a Reflexology-Plus class of their choice, and this will complete the 16 hours. The Massage Board of Iowa has a new CEU requirement of 24 CEU Hours, (Continuing Education Credits), every two years. 12 CEU Hours are to be taken from a Massage Program. The remaining 12 CEU Hours can be taken from an Alternative Program teaching Bodywork. Our Reflexology Classes meets the requirements of an Alternative Program. The location for our classes is the Conference Room, Baymont Inn & Suites, 1220 Park Place NE., IA. 52402. 319-378-8000. They are giving us a room rate of $66 per night; just say you are with Reflexology-Plus. If you would like to reserve a place for the Reflexology-Plus Course, please complete the registration form & send a check for $50 deposit made payable to Patricia Barrance. When attending the classes students are required to have short fingernails: wear comfortable clothing. We recommend light color clothing as we use powder for the treatments & this can spoil dark clothing – especially black. Bring a fitted sheet, blanket & pillow. Please let me know if you have a massage table or reflexology chair that you could bring to the class. I never cease to be amazed how effective Reflexology is for so many conditions. By reducing stress the whole person - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, can benefit from this therapy, and the client can move towards enjoying a healthy lifestyle. I look forward to hearing from you, Yours sincerely, |
